The involvement of women in the IFAPA process is captured under A Mother's Cry for Healthy Africa Campaign which was adopted by Mothers and Daughters of Africa in 2005. The Campaign reaffirms that women are the cornerstone of social harmonization and integration of African societies and cannot be excluded from peace and security issues in Africa. The Desk is formed on the belief that the intervention of interfaith women in peace-building introduces a dimension that helps lead to comprehensive and sustainable peace in Africa and the important role of women in addressing issues which affect the wellness of the continent. Through this campaign, the Women's Desk organizes region-focused programs dictated by specific needs identified and gives support to grass-root women-focused activities aimed at building peace in those localities and regions. The Desk is also a pivot point for the continental network of women from the different faith communities.
